Brajesha Sharma is a rural reformist and the driving force behind Gram Sansad, a social innovation platform reshaping rural governance in India. He champions evidence-based, community-driven development aligned with the Localised Sustainable Development Goals, through capacity building, market linkages and strategic partnerships. His mission is to make every panchayat a self-reliant unit of dignity, development and leadership.
His work rests on one belief: rural India is the future of India. He has built a replicable model in which communities co-create their own development, from natural farming to decentralised waste management. His programmes put women and youth forward as decision-makers and entrepreneurs, combine traditional knowledge with scientific tools, and measure outcomes in real time.
The not-for-profit behind Gram Sansad is set up, with its head office in Jaipur.
Gram Sansad Bihar Chapter-II is inaugurated by Shri J. P. Nadda at Hotel Maurya, Patna, recognising the best Mukhiyas of Bihar.
Hundreds of Mukhiyas gather in Ranchi with the state’s Rural Development & Panchayati Raj leadership.
A dialogue with Mukhiyas on rural development at Taj City Centre, Patna, on 21 September 2026, attended by Bihar Chief Minister Shri Samrat Choudhary.
Twelve threads run through Brajesha Sharma’s work with Gram Sansad, from transparent governance to women’s leadership.
Village time budgets, citizen audits and open planning forums make governance participatory: budgets and schemes are disclosed routinely and leaders answer to citizens.
Livelihoods, education, governance and sustainability are tackled together, so each initiative advances several Localised SDGs at once instead of working in silos.
Panchayats map their own needs, assets and priorities, moving from top-down programmes to agile, accountable plans rooted in local realities.
Marginalised communities, SCs, STs and women are built into planning and decision-making as a matter of system, not exception.
He turns village realities into policy insights at the national level, bridging micro needs and macro strategy, and bringing government, civil society and citizens together.
Through speeches, campaigns and storytelling he makes complex ideas simple for leaders at every tier and links rural aspirations to national priorities.
“स्थानीय स्वशासन और आत्मनिर्भरता तभी संभव है जब हम अपनी संस्कृति और ग्राम समुदाय के गौरव को बनाए रखें।”
— ब्रजेश शर्मा
“India’s greatest strength is not its material wealth, but the unity and resilience of its rural communities, who for generations have preserved the traditions, wisdom and values that form the foundation of sustainable development.”
— Brajesha Sharma
